What temperature should I have my themostat set at?
You could keep your thermostat at 78 degrees, or even higher, when no one is at home, however, the problem is that not only will the air heat up but the furniture, carpet, walls, ect. will also heat up! With all this heat it will take your air conditioner much longer to bring the temperature back down to a comfortable level. The continuous operation of the unit is actually very efficient. Without all the starts and stops of a typical cycling unit, you're able to run the system at its peak efficiency.
